Books have been one of the most important cultural tools for spreading knowledge and recording history . Reading on an e-reader, such as a Kindle, enhances our regular reading habit - making it even easier to learn new things, though some people are still trying to get used to it.

Designing a compelling book cover has always been a work of art. Sometimes we really do judge a book by its cover - and we are drawn to read that book based on a beautiful design.

The British Museum and Kindle have collaborated to make sure the cover of the Kindle is a work of art. The designs used for this special edition series of Kindles are inspired by some of the most popular art pieces from the British Museum. There are a total of four designs: Classical Greece Manor (Blue & Orange-Pink), The Age of the Great Voyage (Black), The Adventurer (White), and The Magical World.

Classical Greek Manor (Blue & Orange-pink)

This design is a combination of many graphics drawn from Greek pottery, glassware, utensils, and several textiles with blue and orange-pink as the color scheme.

The Age of the Great Voyage (Black)

During the 15th to 17th centuries, Europeans took to ocean voyages to find new trading partners and unintentionally explored new continents - opening a new chapter in human history.

The Adventurer (White)

This design is inspired by “The Age of the Great Voyage (Black)” which uses a tellurian illustration from The British Museum. This design represents people’s curiosity and willingness to venture further beyond known frontiers.

The Magical World

The incorporation of “The Magic World” design brings a more playful approach to Kindles with cartoon-like illustrations and bright colors.
